In case it isn't obvious from his face, there is no place Emmett would rather be than with Samuel.
He is the classic little brother, staring in awe and breathlessly memorizing every move of that incredible older sibling that heaven has allowed him to share a roof with. Samuel has tried to explain to him how important it is to master a thuggish stare while fiercely clenching a pacifier if he wants to be taken seriously, but Emmett hasn't quite gotten the hang of it yet.

Samuel really had his work cut out for him on this particular excursion. That baby brother of his was so unbelievably excited to be sitting next to him in the plastic race car extension of a shopping cart that he very nearly ruined their whole public image. He just couldn't seem to control the volume of adorably big-eyed expressions, and when that happens, you can count a camera being shoved in front of their face the whole time. Which might be cool if it weren't your mom on her iphone, you know? Samuel tried to take control of the situation by steering both his wheel and Emmett's with all of the necessary sound effects. There are certain things that noobs can't be trusted with, and handling a shopping cart race car is one of those. Thank goodness for a big brother who has seen the inside of one of these more than once in his life.
Another thing that Samuel is trying to teach Emmett is how to read books. That is, how to listen to a book being read to him anyways. Samuel remembers his days as a baby of six months and he knows that you don't just start out reading the book by yourself. First you have to learn to make sounds resembling human speech. Emmett is decidedly still in the squealing/gurgling stage and not prepared to pull off the stream of babble needed to read a book. In an effort to encourage him, Samuel was kindly demonstrating to him how its done. Things were going really well, and Mama was dying the appropriate number of deaths over the cuteness of the whole thing, until Emmett decided that he was old enough to try turning one of the pages. Um, not so fast, young padawan. {Observe}
Incidents like that don't really phase Emmett. He understands that he is just being put in his place. And as long as his place can continue to be as Samuel's little brother, he's cool with that.
